Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This policy explains which data the Awesome Tape app (“the App”) and the website awesometape.app (“the Website”) process, why, and which rights you have. Together they are called “this Application”.
In short
- You do not create an account with us. We have no server that stores your music, tapes or listening history.
- Your music files, tapes, tracklists and settings stay on your device.
- Radio stations and artwork are loaded directly from the services and servers that host them.
- The App uses Google Firebase (Analytics and Remote Config) and may show ads through Google AdMob. These services process device identifiers and usage data as described below.
Owner and Data Controller
Giovesoft — info@giovesoft.com — VAT: IT-04654470279 — Italy.
For any question about your Personal Data, the purposes of processing, or the parties the Data is shared with, contact the Owner at the address above.
Data stored only on your device
The following Data is processed locally by the App and is never sent to the Owner:
- Your audio files. With your permission (
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, orREAD_EXTERNAL_STORAGEon Android 12 and earlier), the App reads the audio files indexed by Android and their metadata (title, artist, album, duration, folder, embedded artwork) to show and play them. Files you pick through the system file picker are read the same way. Files are never uploaded. - Your tapes. Tapes you record, their names, tracklists and the copied-in song metadata are kept in a database inside the App.
- Preferences and playback state. Settings, the tape left in each deck and the song you were on.
The App asks for permission to post notifications to show the playback controls, and keeps a foreground service running while music plays. Lock-screen, Bluetooth and Android Auto controls work through Android’s media session on your device.
If Android’s backup is enabled on your device, Android may include the App’s data in your device backup to your Google account, under Google’s terms. You can turn this off in the Android settings.
Third-party services used by the App
When you use the features below, your device connects directly to the third party. Like any internet connection, this reveals your IP address and basic technical data (such as the app or device type) to that party.
Internet radio (Radio Browser)
Station search uses the public Radio Browser directory: your search terms are sent to its servers. Stations are then streamed directly from each broadcaster’s server, which sees your IP address. Some stations broadcast only over unencrypted HTTP.
Artwork
Cover images are loaded from the servers that host them (for example radio station websites).
Google Firebase Analytics and Remote Config
The App uses Firebase, provided by Google, to understand how the App is used and to change some settings without an update (for example whether ads are enabled). Firebase may collect: an app-instance identifier, device model, OS version, app version, language, approximate location derived from the IP address, and usage events such as first open, sessions and screen views. The App does not send your music library, tapes or listening history to Firebase. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
Google AdMob (advertising)
The App may show ads through Google AdMob, only while the LOCAL or RADIO source is selected. Ads may be disabled entirely. When ads are shown, Google may collect the device advertising ID, IP address, device and app information and ad interactions, to serve, measure and, where you have consented, personalise ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland personalised ads are shown only with your consent, which you can change at any time. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in the Android settings. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Google Play
The App uses Google Play’s in-app update service to check for and download new versions. Google processes this under the Google Privacy Policy.

Place of processing, transfers and retention
Data handled by third parties may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Such transfers rely on the safeguards those providers adopt, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.
Data on your device is kept until you delete it in the App, clear the App’s data or uninstall the App. Data held by third parties is kept according to their own policies (for example, Firebase Analytics retention settings or Google’s ad data retention).
The Owner takes appropriate security measures. Connections to the App’s own services (Radio Browser, Firebase, AdMob) use HTTPS.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to:
- access, correct or delete your Personal Data;
- restrict or object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interest;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing;
- receive your Data in a portable format;
- lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Because the Owner does not hold your music or account data, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device:
- delete tapes in the App, or clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App to delete everything stored locally;
- reset or delete your advertising ID in the Android settings.
For anything else, write to info@giovesoft.com. The Owner will answer within one month.

Google Play, Android, Android Auto, Firebase and AdMob are trademarks of Google LLC. Awesome Tape is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by them.
Changes to this policy
The Owner may update this policy, for example when the App gains new features or becomes available on other platforms such as iOS. The date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be announced in the App or on this page.
